Why do teenagers like to watch/read things about cliques, cliches, etc?

I'm a teenager myself, but i just can't seem to think of a reason.


I don't watch a lot though, i'm more into comedy and stuff.





But why does young teenage girls like to watch series like, Gossip Girl, OC (oh my gosh), celeb reality shows, etc? And books about all the drama and stuff happening in school?


What's with all that?Why do teenagers like to watch/read things about cliques, cliches, etc?

Personally, I hate drama in real life. But I love the shows Gossip Girl and the ';trashy'; shows. It's simply entertaining and also, it helps me compare the drama in my life to theirs. It makes me feel better because I realize that my problems in life are not as bad as I thought.
We relate to the story line of shows/books about cliques.

Teens love the drama, and suspense. Nothing like that happens in real life - and there is something appealing about scandals, and drama. I know my friends and I are addicted to Gossip Girl. I really can't even say why. Pretty much because nothing that exciting happens in real life.
I love comedy too.


But I LOVE to read books about teenagers, the drama and everything that goes with it.


I LOVE those shows.


I don't know why either, its just appealing to me.


I think I like it because its not happening to me, it happening to someone else and im not involved and I can say anything I want about the characters and my gossip can't be brought into the situation.
either they dont have enough drama in their own lives, and want to live voraciously through these series, or





it makes them feel normal.
theyre just interesting to them n fun i guess.
Because it takes us away from our normal lives.
becuase we can relate to it.
Whitney's right, they wish they had the unrealistic, law free life of those spolied girls.
Because it relates to their lives or portrays a life they wish they had.

To hell if I know. I'm a teen-age girl and I, personally, don't like to watch things that could happen to me... I hate drama and I hate clique-y things...
It's fun, and interesting. People like to pretend they're the ones in it i guess. Never watchced Oc, so don't know, but drama is like a part of life. If it's not happening 2 u, it's interesting...
Some kids find it interesting. They may not have a lot going 4 them, so to be able to escape from time to time can be good.
I love Gossip Girl! And whats wrong with that anyway? I try to avoid drama as much as possible in my own life but its entertaining to see it on t.v.
well i guess some times a person life is really boring i guess its the excitement
because its enertinging in my oioiopn i dont like the oc but love gossip girl puls the books as well
