Are american teens more immature than the teenagers around the world?

Here in South Africa, most teens can put up an argument about politics or the environment or something of that sort. Once that happens in America, it'll be a miracle!Are american teens more immature than the teenagers around the world?
I think that teens in this country are just a lot different than teens in other country's I mean teens in other country's are aloud to drink at a very young age their also not as closed off and a lot of things in other country's and backgrounds are accepted and taken differently than here. human sexuality in diffrent country's is more talked about and here its more hush hush so teens think its something to act immature about. also It has to do with what you in your life are exposed to and how and what your parents teach you and tell you about. How you are held accountable and what your parents expect of you. Are american teens more immature than the teenagers around the world?
No I don't think so. I mean teenagers are for the most part consistently the same all over. Other than the U.S I have only ever been to mexico and while most youth seemed to have more manners and respect for their elders there were almost just as many that seemed like they could have been american loud spoiled and materialistic. It's not about nationality it's about your upbringing and there are bad parents all over. I mean I guess in a lot of other countries a teenagers role is different from in the U.S many have to take responsibility at an early age or are considered adults younger than here but that still just depends on how that teenager in particular handles themselves.
teenagers in america are slightly immature, however i think we are compensated in the fact that the majority are not poverty stricken, forced into the armed forces, or cultivating cocaine plants such as india, middle eastern countries, and south american countries. i think a little pride in our country doesn't do any harm, and being a little obnoxcious comes with pride.
teenagers are teenagers no matter where you go...


personaly i think adults really underestimate teens. just because of celebrities (like miley cyrus) us teens get labled immature and spoiled. this is totaly stereotyping and its friggen ridiculouse there are really good kids in america that no one sees because the adults are so caught up in the media. so to tell you the truth i have no clue.... who's to say!
Based only on media via papers and television. Not been zipping all over the world. The answer is yes. The same age group in other countries seem more mature and focused. Some are in war raveged countries where unfortunately they will never get to be children.
Well, it's not a good idea to make such a generalisation. It is, though, pretty logical that in more developed countries that people often mature slower as they're more sheltered, and it's life experiences which make people mature.

If they were half starved, in the center of a war, under communist rule, in a third-world country, or just about anywhere else, they'd mature REEEAALLL fast.
I don't really think its where you grow up so much as how you are brought up that makes the difference in how immature and mature you are.
