Why do sexually abused children/teenagers wet the bed?

This isn't happening to me, but I'm just wondering how/why sexual abuse causes them to do that.

ThanksWhy do sexually abused children/teenagers wet the bed?
There are several theories.

Some believe that it is a form of regression.

Some also believe it is a sort of detachment from that area because of the abuse.

Some also believe that it could even be a passive almost unconscious way of thwarting their molesters....by being ';unclean'; there ';unappealing'; so to speak. Why do sexually abused children/teenagers wet the bed?
I used to wonder this too but I asked a friend working in Psychology. She said there are a few reasons:

Fear is the first one that comes to mind. Secondly, it is an animal instinct to mark territory and warn off people and as someone else here as said, it will put the abuser off with the smell or mess.

It's a shame what some kids have to go through and they spend a lifetime trying to recover. The only way that we can stop it is by raising awareness, being vigilant and reporting it as soon as we see it.
Not sure, but I do know that wetting the bed is because a chemical in the brain isn't producing properly. It's not the person's fault. That's why kids shouldn't get into trouble for doing it.
Pure fear. They relive their trauma in their dreams and they wet their beds out of pure anxiety.

That is not to say that everyone who wets their bed was sexually abused, but everyone who wets their bed suffers from some form of anxiety.
My mom told me she used to wet the bed till she was a teen because of stress .

So maybe your stressed about the abuse .

Or maybe it's just you and not other kids .
this is because they are tramatized..

so tend to wet the bed because of they are frightened

since they think of it too much
What is your source of information?
