How can we say that teenagers are wiser than their forefathers?

Science and technology is the main reason why teenagers are way ahed than their forefathers. This difference in minds is attributed to generation gap between themHow can we say that teenagers are wiser than their forefathers?
cause some of our forefathers were racist pricks... that caused distruction and did not care about human rights

.I agree... we are to a certain exten wiser. How can we say that teenagers are wiser than their forefathers?
Nonsense. My teenage kid wouldn't have the vaguest idea how to repair a broken hard-drive, or write a line of code, or operate any of the dozens of programs I make my living with.

She wouldn't know how to fix a car, an electrical circuit, a lawnmower, and if you put a powertool in her hand, havoc would ensue.

She can't play a musical instrument, doesn't read anything but lightweight current pop fiction, and if she had to survive on her own in the wilds she would be squirrel bait in a day.

I love her with all my heart, but these things are true.

This has been pretty much true of every other teenager I've encountered.

Even she knows she is not wiser than the adults around her.

Your generalization is not very useful.

Perhaps you think that just owning an iPhone makes you technologically savvy. It just means your parents bought you something. Sorry; that's the simple truth.

Experience really does teach, aging is a good and important thing, and the young always foolishly think they know more than adults.

I know, I was young, and I get it now.

______

edit for poster below:...about my daughter's inexpertise? Yes, I try to teach her, not by rote, but by encouraging her curiosity and help her learn to learn. Critical thinking. But there are huge forces in her world that prevent critical thinking, such as the horrible crap they teach her, and all the things they DON'T teach her at school.
Well, univee I hope you are doing something about it...

Yes, the education in America could be a whole lot better
Yes but their ';forefathers'; have maturity and life experience that should be respected and not ignored. Technology may let us down one day, you know.
I didn't realize ';we'; were saying that.

Why does the book Catcher in the Rye appeal to teenagers today and also teenagers 60 years ago?

what concepts or ideas in the book made teenagers 60 years ago and teenager in modern day like the book??Why does the book Catcher in the Rye appeal to teenagers today and also teenagers 60 years ago?
your deff in mr gotts class lmaoWhy does the book Catcher in the Rye appeal to teenagers today and also teenagers 60 years ago?
This is the best book in the world. I like it because i undertand what he is thinking about. For example he'll say something and ill be like me too! IDK thats just me though. Like all those ';phonies'; he sees i feel the same way as he does on almost everything. Its funny like before i ever read the catcher in the rye i loved going to museams because nothing ever changed i wished like i could just stay there forever and not change then i read the catcher in the rye and i was like omg thats how i feel!!!
Well for one he has many ideas that appeal more to teenager today then back in the 60's. I'm sure back then there were some pretty rebellious kids that didn't give a crap about anything, but in todays day in age, we are more open to society. Everything is more open, sex, drinking, drugs etc. and most kids are in a depressed state of mind, because they take life for granted and don't see any beauty behind it. I love catcher in the rye because he doesn't sugar code how much life sucks, he's real with it, and thats what teenagers appeal too. Hope this helped.
I absolutely love this book! I think that everyone, no matter what time period, girl or boy, can relate to Holden. When i was reading it, i totally understood him, i think a lot of people think like him, you know when you're sort of forced to talk to someone and be nice to them, he was always thinking what he really thought about them in his head and it's like something i would think about someone like that. And i think a lot of other people do too. I hope this is not confusing?

  • Why dont teachers exploit the teenagers relationships to improve grades?

Ie if said students get higher grades without cheeting... they get a 5 minute make out session...

Would anything work better? Why dont teachers exploit the teenagers relationships to improve grades?
how about if you cheated you got death penalty? I think that would work better. Why dont teachers exploit the teenagers relationships to improve grades?
    That would never happen!!!
It might work but they would never let you do that and teachers should use things more like if even one person fails this test, you have homework every night for a month! That would work!
    you're a fool
What a silly suggestion - teenagers have enough emotional angst without us encouraging it in school. Students have plenty of time out of school and behind the bike sheds to be 'making out', perhaps we could try some other kind of Pavlovian experiments involving the removal of their ipods, mp3 players, mobile phones and the like to encourage them - 3 minutes texting for every lesson they behaved in - I am sure that would work more effectively!
It might work, but I don't think it's a very good idea.
First of all, a teacher would lose their license. Second of all, you will not get anywhere in this world if you can't do something for yourself without rewards. Do it for your own self esteem using your brain for something. Get motivated on your own, for yourself and your own self rewards.
I will not attempt to take this question seriously....
With the teacher, or with each other?
well the cash for attendance insentive doesnt seem to be working!
Well, it happens that way in the convent my love!

Did you know Britain for the first time has more pensioners than teenagers.?

    What a terrifying statistic

No wonder Gary Glitter didn't want to come back.Did you know Britain for the first time has more pensioners than teenagers.?
you were watching ';Mock the Week'; pal!

Same here!Did you know Britain for the first time has more pensioners than teenagers.?
seriously, it's a big demografix prob.

Pensions r paid (deservedly) by the working pop thru taxes to those who have worked and contributed to the fund during their lives (generally). With this demographic deficit, these funds will run out.

When the scheme started, people M65, F60 were expected 2 live 2 or 3 years, then decently pop their clogs. Thanks (!) to the NHS and higher standards of living more peeps r living longer. 2 Solutions (!?) work longer or have a compulsory contributary investment scheme.

The govts euthenasia thru fuel/food poverty scheme seems a tad inhumane!
its been on the news, in papers for some time now. Its scary when you think that these children are going to have to support us in our old age, and there simply won't be enough of them, and looking and listening to many, they are unemployable.
Did you know that people in general spend 7 times longer shopping than playing with their children in a week? And more people in the US file for bankruptcy in a year than graduate from college?

    It's a sad world.
So the Government should upset them at their peril.

    Pensioner power rules OK.

It is the Pensioners that will rid the country of this Government.
Yes but according to the news tonight due to the rising costs of power, this winter will see off thousands of pensioners. How dreadful is that!!!!
probably right coz quite a large percentage of teenagers are being murdered in the streets. Bring back capital punishment!
One day Wayne you will be a pensioner lol

Seen on a gravestone.....Remember friends as you pass by, As you are now so once was I. As low as I you once must be, Prepare yourself and follow me.
The teenagers are all killing each other!!!!!
i dont get why american bother putting their bit in then!!

It is shocking that its gonna be a tough winter and pensioners are going to have to choose between eating or heating!! poor buggers
About time, now when we can get rid of all teenagers things will be so much better :-0
Fewer teenagers? Thank God for that. Gary who?
Ah, you saw that show last night as well. Very funny.
    Boomers Rule!
    how is that possible
    Lol your funny!

And Bails, is that true? Man they really know how to keep people happy in this sh*thole of a country!!
umm... thanks for that erm, interesting bit of info? i don't think most americans really care. not to be rude.

Do you think that playing violent video games has any effect on teenagers behaviour?

    Um.. Maybe?

Depends on what the teenagers' like. I mean.. if the teenagers are the ones who skips schools an stuff, probably (?) But, normally, I dont think so. :P Do you think that playing violent video games has any effect on teenagers behaviour?
Do you think that being in a gang has any effect on teenagers behavior? Are there any noticeable differences in attitude between a kid raised with extreme violence and one who is not? Does environment and what you choose to fill your head with have any effect on anyone?

NO DOUBT ABOUT IT. Anyone who thinks otherwise clearly has not read the proper studies or has their head in the sand. To say no would be the same as claiming advertising has no effect on consumers. Do you think that playing violent video games has any effect on teenagers behaviour?
Depends on the person, I'm a 13 year old %26amp; very interested in looking at pictures of gore, and there's a few websites with tons of videos of killing and mass gore. I love heavy metal bands such as Cannibal Corpse %26amp; I frequently watch 18 rated movies. But it doesn't affect me one bit, I'm just a normal boy. But there are a lot of kids my age who when they watch a movie will copy quotes and bits from it.
I believe it depends. It depends on the age and maturity of the person, when they first start, and how much they play it. I think that when they play it as a child, it has a bigger affect on them, then it would as a teen.
    I believe it is as they say, ';Garbage in, garbage out.';
    No.

Is Anxiety More Common In Teenagers Than Adults?

im 16 and i have bad anxiety i think about the universe all the time and cant stop i have crazt thoughts that freak me out and i worrie about dumb things. i never use to be like this but i told my mom and she said its common but i dont no...none of my friends have it that i no of, and im going to a doctor in a mounth.

    but is this common?

have any of you had this when you where a teenger?

what can i do untill i go to the doctors? Is Anxiety More Common In Teenagers Than Adults?
I think everyone has these thoughts, just some people know how to ignore them, or just not think about them and they go away. I think it's normal at your age, I had that when I was 16 even younger, and I got put on meds, and I think they messed my chemicals up big time...So, don't let the doc force pills on you, try to find an alternative route.

P.S. there's nothing wrong with having the ability to think beyond what ';normal'; people think. You are just more receptive and a deep thinker. Keep on thinking, but don't WORRY about the dumb things! They will hold you back from success someday...Is Anxiety More Common In Teenagers Than Adults?
Well i'm 16 too and I get compulsive thoughts and theres nothing ';wrong'; with me and I do think about the universe and if there is something after death, ect but at least you don't get compulsive thoughts about people you don't like or hate because that happened to me and seriously it is the worst torture you can imagine because i felt like unless I did something bad to them it would ruin my life. And I never had even thought i'd ever see a phsycologist until last year and now ive been to like 100 appointments and still have anxiety but I just worked out recently that part of the problem was that I kept thinking of stuff to tell the psychologists all the time incase one idea I had would give them the answer to my problem but seriously they aren't that good for listening to my imaginative explanations so I KIND OF REALISED JUST THE OTHER NIGHT THAT THE KEY TO GETTING RID OF THIS DEPRESSIVE STATE IS TO HAVE A STATE OF MIND OF NOT THINKING ABOUT IDEAS AND THOUGHTS OR ANYTHING THAT DOESNT HAVE TO DO WITH THE SMALL GOOD THINGS OF REALITY IN YOUR LIFE, IT DOESNT MEAN DON'T THINK, JUST STOP THINKING OF REASONS FOR WHATEVER YOU ARE OBSESSING ABOUT BECAUSE IT DOESNT MATTER, THANK YOU
I would say that anxiety is much more common in ';adults';. Whilst being 16 may appear hard for you, it is a stage we all go through..

Becoming a teenager has many downfalls, hormonal changes, a time when we should give though, consider where we would like to go with our education..

These are things that have all been through, we were excepted to just accept these changes as normal, which in fact they are..

Although teenage years have never been easy for any generation, we now have much more understanding of what is happening hormonally.

All I can say to you is, yes much of what you are feeling, is not so much different from what our generation felt..

The difference is we never expected anyone to notice or help us..

We accepted that is is life, this is called growing up..

I do realise there may be more pressures on your generation of teenagers now.

All I would like to say to you is..

When you see your doctor, explain just how you feel..

    Your thoughts, your worries..

Take care not to get involved in drugs..

There will be no help there...

Always talk to your mom, as you seem able to do that..

I'm sure your mum is a good source of information..

Try to keep in mind, all teenager feel something similar to you..

    We've all been there..

    It's a time of adjustment.

Things will sort themselves out soon...

Hope this helps you a little...
normally anxiety become from childhood then it remain in teen age

appeared sever in age after 30

Why do activity levels of teenagers drop off after the age 12?

Well mine was 14 cause school gave me so much more work and was stressing me out, so I had to quit a sport I had played since I was 6 at a representative level JUST before getting chosen to play for my state =\ Sucked... I'm still one of the kids at school that enjoys sport and the country complains about obesity but I dont have time to play sport, and now that im in my last two years, sport isnt even compulsory so I have basically no chance. Why do activity levels of teenagers drop off after the age 12?
What she said plus the metabolism begins to slow down some. Also, usually the parents have low activity levels, so since the kid is starting to lose some energy from the lower metabolism, they turn to other things when they don't have someone to look up to.Why do activity levels of teenagers drop off after the age 12?
They get more involved in electronics, texting, TV, computer, talking on the phone, video games. They no longer do physical activity in the way that children do by running around and playing. They spend more time just sitting around and talking to their friends. They have more homework and chores so don't have as much time to move around. They get distracted by hormones, growing up, social problems, and being a teenager and forget to get off the couch.

Should parents talk to their teenagers about sex?

Recently I read a study that suggests that fathers should talk to their daughters about sex. The study also suggested that parents should not be shy to be nude in front of their children. Daughters in particular should learn about sex, and male organs from their dad. Or else the study warned that they would learn it in more risky environments..Should parents talk to their teenagers about sex?
Simple solution: they will learn it from parents or they will learn from peers.

Peers will teach and only have knowledge of boyish/girlish ideas and the basics that we all fear for children to know: good sensation without consequence.

Need I say more?Should parents talk to their teenagers about sex?
Parents SHOULD talk to their teens about sex, the sooner the better! Once puberty starts, and even before, is when all the questions start to accumulate in their heads and they need to know the facts before they get any older and make bad decisions. It should be something that is openly discussed and not kept so hush hush bottom drawer. Sex is a natural part of life but also something everyone needs to be responsible about. Education is very important, and when I have children, I will make sure they know everything they need to know.
I think that it is part of our job as parents and the #1 most important teacher in our children's lives to make sure we educated them on all we can including sex. I don't think that daughters should necessarily learn from their dads because I know i would have hated talking to my dad about things like that but my mom and I always had open communication and she was great. I just feel like if we educate our kids at home we know what they are being taught and can keep the communication open in case something should happen but if they just learn from others they may not learn all they should and may feel like they can't talk to the parents which can cause more problems for them.
I don't think parents should talk to their teens about sex...they should be talking about it when they are even younger. I do agree you shouldn't be shy about being in the nude. It wasn't weird at my house for my brother and I to bath together ( til I was bout 7 and he was 4) after that I did see my dad naked. And my mom.

Also my mom started talking to me about sex from the age of about 11. Once my friends started dating (13) she was open with things. I never once was scared to ask my parents anything.

My dad also let me know the only reason he was so against me dating at first was because he was ';that boy';. My dad also made me promise that if I thought I was pregnant or anything was wrong I would tell him. Because I wouldn't just be taken are of myself I would taken care of his little girl and his grandchildd. I'm really glad my brother and I spent so much time together I think that really helped too. He stuck up for me when it came to dating and I did the same for him. We were both the first to know when the other lost their virginity.that'sts just how close we are.

More parents being open I think would cut down on alot of teen pregnancy and teens having ST D's's because if your never taught by your parents. You really don't know its wrong or what to do.
I started talking to my daughter about sex when she started getting curious (about 7-8). She was asking me questions that were about sex and she was trying to embarrass me and was embarrassed herself. (e.g 'Where do babies come from mummy?' 'From mummy's tummy sweetie' 'But how do they get there?' Giggle giggle.

She clearly knew but wanted to see how I would react, so I told her straight out. She says 'Yuck' every time I say the word sex but I keep telling her its just a word and I want her to be comfortable about talking about it with me.

Hopefully that way when she eventually considers having a sexual relationship (god help me, hopefully for not another 10 years or so!) she will feel comfortable enough to come and talk to me about it first.

I have no idea whether this will work but I'm hoping so!
I think parents shud talk to children about sex. Look at statisitics in Europe where Britain has highest teenage pregnancy rate in Europe %26amp; was found to be the most prudish when it comes to both sex education %26amp; home %26amp; school. That way if u talk to ur child about it then they are more likely to come spk to you! x

Oh as for being nude in front of children, think there is a limit on that as it would get to stage where wud be embarrassing for child. x
    talk yes, illustrate no

i'd be sceptical to such a paper...you sure its not written by someone siting in jail?

well at least if you are talking about teens of oposite gender, one thing is when they are small, but a 13 year old girl or older shouldnt be nude around her naked dad, or vise versa with son and mom. There comes such an age they are too old for that.
I've had the sex talk with both of my parents, and it's not a big deal (especially since they're both in the medical field). As for my dad, I'd rather not see him naked. I wouldn't care with my mom since we're both girls and she's the one who gave birth to me and stuff.
I know that when my son is of age we will both be talking to him about sex.

I think that the more honest you are the better. I'm not afraid to be nude in front of my son because there isn't anything sexual about it. It's just my body that God has given me. It doesn't matter what gender I am...
I think the parents should let their kids know if they have any questions that they CAN come to them. If you start talking about sex to them, they could just feels really awkward and close someone gates between you too. Letting your child know your there for them is the key =)
my parents never talked to me about sex. ever. it's a word that isnt even used in my house. i'm kinda happy that way though. i've never had the wrong ideas, i always just picked up a book and read up on whatever i wanted to know. of course that's just me, probably many other kids would not be doing that.
I personally believe that's what sexual education is for at school, it's more informative and teaches teenagers about STDs, condoms, sex, and puberty.
Yeah my parents told me nothin tho i just learned from yahoo answer hahaha the dictionary and friends and seeing yo parents naked wtf thats nasty i hate seeing my mom naked ewwwwwww i jus nasty im sorry
Absolutely, if you treat it taboo, then your more likely to cause problems.
i don't think children should see there parents nude.

and both parents should talk to their kid(s)
    IDK.........~xoxo ally*
well i know about sex but i learned from my mom. i think it would be weird to have that talk with dad...
i wouldnt want to see my dad's package.
Parents shouldn't talk to their teens about sex, they should talk to their older children about sex. By the time they're teens they've already started the road of puberty and should understand their body's physical and emotional changes before it happens.

Do you believe that ';I love you'; is an overused word amongst teenagers?

Do they say ';I love you'; too quickly/early and don't understand the meaning behind it?

Is it because think infatuation is love?Do you believe that ';I love you'; is an overused word amongst teenagers?
yea i think it is....people in general dont get the meaning of the word and use it like the common word ';the'; .....and teenagers are the worst with that word....because the are so desensitized by everything in todays messed up culture they grow up not ever knowing the real meaning of the word, and it kinda sucks for the few people in the world who really get what it means to love someone and to be in love cuz they'll just feel so freaking aloneDo you believe that ';I love you'; is an overused word amongst teenagers?
being a teenager myself i know that since we are so young we believe the feeling is true love. my answer to your question just basicly answered one of my own i have had for a while now.

I honestly believe the word Love is thrown around to easily by everyone. Everyone says ';I love so and so'; weather it be a friend, family, or significant other and yet a lot of people say ';I hate so and so... well i don't 'hate' them, hate is a harsh word.'; I would rather hate someone too easily then love someone too easily.
totally think it is overused. i know i used it in relationships i shouldnt have. but i def mean it when i say it now to my fiance[i love you zachary if u happen to stumble upon this]. and i meant it when i was 15 to my first love and two yrs ago to my ex fiance. but any other relationship inbetween was wrong.
I don't believe i love you is over used to much but ';I will love you forever is';. There is nothing better than that teenage love its true its strong and 99% lust. But if it feels like love it is love weather it lasts a month a year a lifetime well thats a different story.
They are teens, let them have fun using the word iloveyou after 1 hour of dating. Don't worry they'll learn what love really is later on in life if they do hopefully yes. I mean easier said than understood right.

So honestly, just let the teens have fun and don't worry. It's part of highschool...etc
Yes. lol kids say it way to much. I have only been in love once. When i was a teen, i thought i was in love, but i didnt even know what i was talking about. A friend of mine is 36, and he has only been in love with one girl. So yes, when all these kids say it, it is overused
I do believe they tend to use the word WAY before they know what it means- but when they really know what it means and they really love each other ( not just an infatuation) there is no amount that is too high to say it.

    XXXX
teenagers are in so Much in hurry to have a gf or bf that they take any one to be their love as soon as they start liking them .like is different and love is different like is what we do and love just happens...i blame it all on tv..
When a person thinks they might be in love, then they are in love. How much--Never know. But, what don't teenagers overuse? Its how they learn and live, lol. If you asked me, I think the entire world uses it too lightly.
Absolutely. It's one of those things that you don't know until its happened to you. They see and here it all the time and believe infatuation is love. But it's innocent, they'll learn.
Love has a different meaning for everyone, and it comes in many depths and levels. I think as long as someone thinks they feel it, they can say it.
Yeh of course some teens use it without knowing the full meaning. but it isn't over used just misused. some might think that lust is love and use it then.
There is a difference in loving someone and being in love with someone.

But if people are believing that they are in love with someone often, then there's a problem.
    Absolutely. So is the phrase, ';My life sucks';, and ';I have so many problems in my life';

How stars affect the way teenagers dress today.?

add ways, stars that influence teens the most, and what is the fad going on right nowHow stars affect the way teenagers dress today.?
I think it call comes down to music and what they Liston to

    If you liston to rap

More likely to dress like a gangsta

liston to punk well more likely to dress like a punk

    well you get the idea

I do not believe it is so much movie stars

Most young girls see a model and want to be as thin as her and as pretty as she is not realizing that with help from computers it is making her look the way she is. self image whether it is the way someone looks or dresses is a big deal in this world even though some of it is unhealthy for what people do to look like there fave star. It is ridiculousHow stars affect the way teenagers dress today.?
Well I think models and musicians enfluences teens. I am a teen but I don't let that happen, I dress what I think is cute like Hollister and abercrombie but i make it look a bit funky. Sometimes if I see an outfit in the magazines I read I might look for something similar cause I think is CUTE not becasue others do. But my stepsister is different. She moved here from the GHETTO, and is like white but wishes she was mexican cause she lived with mexicans and only dates mexicans and dresses in the cheap clothes even though her dad is rich just cause her friends can only afford cheap things. I guess peers and clebraties influence teens that let it happen because they dont know how to find THEMSELVES.
People like 50 cent and snoop dogg wear hoodies and bling, and boys just wanna copy them.
People in music videos, I think, affect kids today.

Along with that, I think PEERS affect a great deal too.

Do you have any Study or Homework or Organiztion tips for teenagers ?

    Regarding study and homework:

    - Write down everything that it is you need to do in a diary, a homework planner (if your school gives you one) or even just a notebook.

    - Try to work out a timetable for yourself for after school or on weekends. That way you can also schedule in any extra-curricular activities that you do, and also free time for yourself. If you wake up on a Saturday thinking 'Ok, I have to do my science homework, but that shouldn't take more than 30 minutes, then I can go and hang out with my friends for an hour, come back and study for my maths test for an hour and then the rest of the day I can do what I want', you're much likely to actually get work done than just thinking 'I have to do my science homework and study for my maths test today'. If you do that, you're either likely to not go and see friends and not get either of them done, or spend the whole day studying and then feel grumpy as you haven't got to do anything you want to do.

    - Try to make it fun. Figure out what helps you to learn best, be it making notes, making brightly coloured mind-maps, trying to explain it to someone else (or even just a teddy bear or some kind of inanimate object), reading through what you need to know, recording it onto an mp3 player and then listening to it; and then do that! Studying with friends is fine so long as you stay focused on what it is you're actually meant to be studying and it doesn't turn into a 'study the latest gossip' session.

    - Don't work for too long without a break. Your mind can really only work at its optimum level for about 40-50 minutes - then have a break for 10 minutes, get up, move around, have something to eat or drink. You'll go back to your work feeling a lot more refreshed and will be able to remember a lot more than if you hadn't taken the break.

    With organisation:

This is something I find difficult as well, although I'm slowly getting better. Make sure that you have a routine, you have a timetable for when you're going to study, and that everywhere has somewhere to go.

    - If you're given a lot of sheets at school, either stick them into your exercise books (if you have them) or have different coloured folders to put them in - one for each subject. Same for your notes - if you don't have exercise books, have one folder for each subject. Make sure you file your notes and/or sheets as you go along - don't make the mistake I always used to and think 'I'll do it later' - by the time I actually got round to it I had a huge pile of paper I had to file and had no idea what order they had to go in or what went where or anything. If you have more than one sheet/page of notes for one lesson, writing page numbers on each of them is a good idea if the order of them isn't obvious.

    - Make sure everything has somewhere that it can go. The last thing you want is to be trying to remember what you've done with your biology notes when you urgently need to study for a test. It sounds obvious, but when you've finished using something, put it back!

    - Don't leave things until the last minute! With homework and studying you will feel a lot more relaxed and your work will be better if you're not trying to do it the night before or even the morning of the assignment deadline or the test. Likewise, if you figure out what you are going to need for school the next day and pack your bag in the evening, it's a lot easier when you're half awake in the morning and likely to forget things.

    Hope this helps.

Use your planner to write down all your homework assignments

Ask questions if you don't understand something (Don't be afraid to raise your hand)

Pay attention to the teacher don't talk or text or anything just pay attention

do your homework when you get home

don't wait till the last minute to start on projects

use a diffrent notebook for each class (or get a multi-subject notebook)

    study for tests

eat healthy and sleepDo you have any Study or Homework or Organiztion tips for teenagers ?
I find that when I write down what I need to do, I feel less pressured and organized. I then work with what's the most important (what's due sooner) and then work with the rest.

After dinner, no more homework. After dinner is my time to relax and do what I want to do.
get them from ur friends. study when theres only tests, homeworks and projects just copy from friends.

Why do some parents think cutting yourself is a fashion among teenagers?

one time my mother and i were talking about teenagers who cut themselves because they were depressed, but my mother seems to think that they are not depressed, that cutting yourself is a fashion,a stupid fashion among teenagers. when it is not. i would never cut myself i love myself way to much. but i know ppl at school who do and i also have friends whose mothers think the same. idk it just has me thinking. fashion or not. i would say not b/c that would be a super dumb fashion but idk how other ppl think. Why do some parents think cutting yourself is a fashion among teenagers?
i used to do it in junior high. i felt it helped me in someway..whenever anyone got me mad..but anywho,i dont anymore. anyways,my friends...tho...started copying me! and then their friends started copying them..i thought, wtf? yes it did start going like a trend...so i guess some ppl are really hurt, and some aren't. either way parents should know and care whats going on. next the kid can get into heavy drugs,pills..and can die,so it shouldnt' be taken lightly. Why do some parents think cutting yourself is a fashion among teenagers?
i know some people that really do suffer from cutting, but then I also know some dumbass kids who cut themselves just to make them seem more ';emo'; and it kinda pisses me off because now it seems like cutting has just associated itself with emo kids and whenever you hear about someone who cuts themselves because they really do have a problem, people just downplay it like its just some emo kid, and ignore the fact that they might actually have a problem. honestly, the people who cut themselves to seem more emo are f*cking retarded and they really need to get some help.
maybe their viewpoint is still very old fashioned.
    I have been wondering lately myself why it seems that cutting has suddenly become the ';thing to do'; among a certain sect of teenager. When it moved from being a secret, self-proclaiming expression of emotional pain to a ';fad.';

Then I realized: because that seems to be the way it's being portrayed lately.

I've seen recent news programs about it where the cutters seem to be trying to be cool (that wasn't the intention of the reporter, as they were trying to show it as an illness or a problem...but clearly they didn't understand what ';real'; cutting was or they would have found better interview subjects or done something different if they couldn't find anyone willing to talk who wasn't just in it for the ';cool'; factor or thought it was cool). There does seem to be a part of teen population that seems to treat it more like a fad or like a self statement...you know one of those that people make to stand apart and be different when really they're just fitting in to a darker niche in school society. It's like now they're cutting instead of getting piercings or tattoos (or along with).

I know there are still mostly ';real'; cutters out there. The ones who somehow discover it on their own and realize that somehow it makes them feel so much better. I'm guessing they're just not jumping at the chance to make the local 10 o'clock news, though, so your mother is seeing and hearing about the others who want the spotlight...making it seem like the fashion and not a serious illness. I know I wouldn't have put myself out there as a cutting teen. I didn't want anyone to know. I still probably wouldn't (and I'm 39 years old!). In fact, I cringe when there's another program or show on TV that deals with cutting (whether good or bad) not because I don't think it should be shown (it's an important topic that should be covered), but because I'm afraid that my coworkers or boss will see it and realize what all my scars really are!

So, in my typical long-windedness I think the type of cutters local and syndicated news programs are showing, coupled with the fact that TV reporting on this subject and the coverage in popular TV shows makes people think that this is a sudden increase or explosion in the behavior, therefore: fad. Not true in most cases, of course, but understandable how people who haven't experienced it with someone they know might get the wrong idea. Programs that show the real side of cutting are few and far between.

I think it's great that you talked with your mother about something like this. First off, I think it's important for her to know that it isn't something you could ever see yourself doing. Secondly, it does become our job to educate our parents. Different people know, learn, and see different things. Those experiences should be talked about and shared, with mutual respect.

Do you have the Windows XP reinstallation CD? If not, try getting one. When you first boot-up press F12, and boot to CD. Follow the in-screen directions to reformat your whole computer, making it run brand new.I recieved a gateway computer from a friend who had young teenagers?
Sounds like you need to reformat the hard drive. If the computer has a CD burner you can copy the I386 folder in Windows to a blank CDR disk and find out the reg key number with free software that's available on the net. Write down the reg key number as you will need it to install Windows again. Make a note of all devices named in Device Manager, video, sound, LAN card, Modem etc and get the drivers for them (also online and free). When you install Windows again it will erase all the data that you haven't saved (backed up). Good luck...I hope this helps.
sounds like you have a virus and re installing windows might be your only option you could try running the antivirus on the machine or load and try supreantivirus.com and see if that works befor you reinstall windows
ya if its still under warranty

    what will your reaction be?

    what would you say?

what would you do afterward? get them a councilor?PARENTS: what would you do if you saw cuts on your teenagers arm?
    Cutters need professional help

Cutters feel empty inside, over or under stimulated, unable to express their feelings, lonely, not understood by others and fearful of intimate relationships and adult responsibilities. It is their way to cope with or relieve painful or hard-to-express feelings and is generally not a suicide attempt. But relief is temporary, and a self-destructive cycle often develops without proper treatment.

Usually last 5-10 years.PARENTS: what would you do if you saw cuts on your teenagers arm?

she said i should talk to a councilor and stuff like that

and why did i do it??

    how did you do it???

    when did you do it???

and a bunch of more question

    i said its nothing
I would talk to him/her in a calm manner, and get counseling to see why they are doing that and I'd go with them. I'd be there for them 100%.
If I had an emo son who was cutting himself? I'm only 14 and im a prep i would be pretty disgusted .. actually I wouldnt raise him like that so it wouldnt happen I would get him some help though if I saw it.
i would yell at him or her and take him to sme place for help because it can lead to worser things
be calm, and ask if there's something going on with his/her life, and should seek outside help.

What is acne in Teenagers caused by?

Me, and a couple of my friends, have badddd acne.

We wash our face daily, with soap and warm water, and then with cold water to close the poors.

Ive heard poor higene is tied into it, this is not the case.

Could it be a hormone inbalance? What is acne in Teenagers caused by?
I've been in that situation and there is really nothing you can do about it. There are things you can do to try to reduce the blemishes and get rid of acne/pimples temporarily but you will always be finding yourself cleaning your face or your body depending on where it's at.

I mean of course your acne should go away eventually but for some this is the case their whole life.

I'm 29 years old and have been suffering from these little pests since I was a teenager. I tried all sorts of face washes from the local grocery store and what not, but nothing seemed to work. If anything it would just make my skin dry and itchy.

Literally the best acne face wash I've ever used has been this stuff called clearpores. It has got rid of the acne to quickest and has been a success ever since I got it. It's unique cause of it's herbal supplement you take a long with it that helps your skin from the inside out. I saved money on it at skincleansingsystem.com at the time which was helpful.

You should really look into this stuff and if you can to assure the best results, get the 3 month supply because if it doesn't work it will still save you butt on the return policy.

Well good luck and best wishes. What is acne in Teenagers caused by?
it is with your normal growth but there are several factors

    like hormonal factors

    sebaceus glands around hair follicles

    stress

    heavy or oily make up

certian medication like hyper dose of vit b 6

    genetic factors
Acne is a build up of natural oils stuck around the hair follicle, then bacteria gets into it, your body tries to fight them, causing the swelling and redness.

I recommend washing your face twice a day and using an over-the-counter acne medication. There are a lot of inexpensive ones. Some over-the-counter acne medications don't work for your skin, some dry out your skin. Just try different ones till you get one that works for you. And keep a steady regiment. Getting off track with washing your face will cause more to show up.

Is it normal for teenagers (16-18) to have part-time jobs?

In Germany? And what kind of jobs do they usually have, if they do? And how much per hour?

Only if you know. No rude stuff please %26amp; thanks. :)Is it normal for teenagers (16-18) to have part-time jobs?
I think so. It's quite common in lots of Western European countries. Lots of people work at the weekend or after school in shops, cinemas, restaurants and so on.

German people seem to have a very good work ethic on the whole, so I would think that German teenagers tend to get part-time jobs.Is it normal for teenagers (16-18) to have part-time jobs?
It is very normal. Actually teenagers start working at 15 , by age 18 unless you are still in high school a full time job is expected. You make minimum wage , which isn't a lot but you have to start somewhere. Usually teenagers work in restaurants or some times amusements parks. It will make you feel great to have your own money.

Why,,, why,,, why,,, in teenagers' dance competition, do the kids & parents have to be so mean and hateful?

Seriously, my daughter has done competitive dance and gymnastics for eight years (she is 14 now). She usually does get very good parts in the group dances; she usually dances in the front line (often center), but my, the other parents and other kids get so hateful and mean about it, if they do not get good parts. My daughter does deserve to be in the front and center because she is very talented and has placed in the top ten overall at nationals for her solo dances for many years now, so these other kids and parents must know that she deserves it, but why is there so much hate and competition, even within your own dance studio? Why do people have to be that way???? Especially when these are other girls are competing with my daughter in these same group dances, against other dance studios? These parents need to be role models for the students, to teach them that it is a group effort and to stop being so catty. I've often even seen these parents fight amongst each other! Why,,, why,,, why,,, in teenagers' dance competition, do the kids %26amp; parents have to be so mean and hateful?
Without even realizing it, parents are teaching their kids the skill of survival: act as if you were the best no matter what your skill is. If you imagine for a second that they will line up according to their places there would be not much competition in a job market. I don't blame them for it at all. Plus, every parent sees their kid as the most wonderful, adoreable and absolute best in all regards.

However, if this behavior gets out of control, I think it is the teachers that are to blame. Teachers are in the best position to discourage it. Ballroom teachers actually manage to ';even out'; the attitude in partners. Very often, one partner in a couple is slightly more advanced, or has an attitude of a more advanced. With younger people, you can see very often that the stronger one becomes pushy and critical of his/her partner. This is when teachers step in and point out a couple of mistakes in the stronger dancer so that he/she can humble down just a little and get to work. Good for the dancer, good for the partnership, good for the overall attitude in the studio. I know you're not talking about ballroom, but I'm sure teachers could do somethign similar. If the teacher plays it right, the students (and parents) will be happy to accept the part they were assigned, rather than being whiny and otherwise annoying. Why,,, why,,, why,,, in teenagers' dance competition, do the kids %26amp; parents have to be so mean and hateful?
they just want their kids to be seen and think theyre kids are best... also thnk about how competitive dance is these days

Because its not like youre sopose to go on stage and act all girly girl usually its because they want to win and they're serious about it and besides they no they arent going to see youre daughter again anyway sooo yea
I am in many sports like volley ball, basketball , and track and field and every year i find that the parents are very rude. Just like how you described in dance competitions. In sports parents get angry if their child is not in the starting line up, or if thier child gets taken off the court..and often if their child is called by a reff. the parents feel the need to comment on the call..i guess parents just want to see their child suceed but they sometimes get a little out of hand and rude.
Sometimes parents want whats best for their children, even if they're not thinking about they way they're acting. Some parents may even be trying to relive their lives through their children and wont settle for anything less than the best. Thats the nature of competition, ergo the nature of life....just have to deal with it.
I have danced competitivly, since I was five. First thing is when you are dancing competitivly, the people you are dancing with alot of the time you see them as competition if you see them as better then you. Thats the way dance is at studios and in the real world. I have been in both best of the class and not the best in the class I have been front and center and I have been in the back. Alot of parents and students don't find it far when one child is all ways front and center, because we all pay the same amount of money to be on the team we all put in the same amount of hours and work just as hard and some people maybe more gifted then others but that does not mean that noone eles should get a chance to shine. I don't believe that the child that is the best in the class should be treated any differently then all the other students, I don't think it is far that the get picked on by there teammates the did not ask to be front and center there were put there, and I know teachers want to show case there best students. But it is very frusting when you work your butts off in the studio and think your getting better and yet still end up in the back every time. Dance is one of the worst sports for this, The teamamtes can get overly mean somtimes, and yes the parents should be better rold models but parents also get frusted when the put in so much time money and effort and ever time see there child in the back and the same girl front and center everyone is good at some part of dance and the teachers should showcase everyones talents even just for a couple of seconds, just to make all the dancers feel like a real team and not just back up dancers to one or two of the best girls. Ever dancer wants to feel like all eyes are on them, and that the deserve to be there and that all there hard work has payed off. Truthfully I don't totally blaim the parents or students I blame the teachers. It shared one you are one of the best dancer and you work really hard and get that front and center and the rest of your teammates look down on you, but you and your daughter need to just keep your heads up enjoy dancing and watching her dance and not worry about how the other teammates feel about u cause when it comes down to it the only thing that matters and the one thing ever teammate has in common is the love for dance. Its a hard thing dance because you spend soo many hours with the same people and its hard one everyone thinks your the teachers pet, and in a perfect world we would all just be a team that is happy just to be around eachother and share the love of dance. but its not a perfect world so people are going to be jeolouse and mad that you are the top. thats just dance, and thats the part of dance that sucks, but if you love it more then anything then how your teammates feel wont matter the only thing that matter is that you get to dance, either in thr front or the back just as long as your dancing. i hope this helped you in someway its just the way i have always looked at it and i have been dancing for 17 years. and truthfully it doesn't get any better, so see this as learning how to make it in the real world, but the only thing that truly matters is the love in your daughters hearts for dance if she can keep that alive nothing eles will matter.
It is good to be in a lead position and that is where all the dancers were headed and your daughter got a very good position in the light for her talent to shine that is good yet, were would center stage be without competition, something to nudge another yet higher on that pedestal of recognition for the world to see. and why do they all push cram snip and all that negative stuff, after all, one was chosen from many.one win many loose, at least for the moment.
People act this way for many reasons. They want to win, they want to be the first, and they want to achieve the most. Especially when it comes to games and competitions. People can get ruthless with competing with others. When the parents put their kids in a sports team or anything that is a competition鈥?They always are blindsided of winning (they turn selfish) and forget that this is for their children.

I think the only reason why they are mean to your daughter is jealousy. They think they deserve more then your kid. However, there is always going to be those kinds of people around the world. Thinking they are better then everyone else.

All you have to do is be a good mother, and be there for your daughter. In addition, make sure she is enjoying herself because that is all that matters.
I think it's kind of ironic that you say ';My daughter does deserve to be in the front and center because she is very talented ....so these other kids and parents must know that she deserves it.'; It's sounds like you're saying all the kids and parents should bow down and out and let her rule. Maybe the other kids aren't as perfect as your kid, but other parents want their kids to have a chance to shine, too. It IS a group effort, so maybe your daughter needs to encourage the ones you feel are less talented, rather than expect to steal the show each time. If she ';usually gets very good parts'; why can't another child enjoy the spotlight for a change?
because they want to win and when they get into the music and dance they would go to any extent to try to win
This behavior isn't limited to dance competions. It is seen in sports, and nearly any activities children and or adults compete in. It's even been on TV how parents really do fight with each other and with the children. The important thing is for the children to have fun and not be made feel inferior. The best performers and usually the older students should be examples for the younger ones to admire and try to become as good as they are. Some parents try to live through their children. Some parents just want the cream of the crop for their kids and nothing else will do. They need to reconsider their stand and make sure the child is enjoying himself. ';Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it.'; Some people were never trained up. They were left to fend for themselves and don't know proper behavior.
It's because they are wasting their energy in anger. It affects their performance and creates bad karma.

You and your daughter channel that energy into dance and support, and also by avoiding anger, you create good karma.
Parent's live their dreams through their children and push them to be the greatest and get their name out there. Once when my friend got selected for a dance group to go to Orlando with me and this one girl's mother was really upset. She came into the bathroom when we were in there and started yelling at us that we were doing this on purpose to ruin her and her daughter. Then she started to put a hand on my friend and I got her mom. Then it started this big brawl between the mothers and they were even pulling each others hair. The police had to be called! It is ridiculous. But when you are in a room full of women who are very competitive, these things happen. It's bad when all the kids are friends and the parents are so rude! It drives me mad. Now, many of the dancers I have danced with in the past are mothers and they are doing the same thing their mothers did, so competitive and fierce! I don't think that is they way to go. But it's what happens.

It's funny, I got this on the math team too! This one mother was always like ';Oh, well you have Chris on your team you still have a chance';. And I'm like, hello, there are 7 places and we are the last to be called, WE LOST. It's nuts.
Well, that is what you call ';competition';. Then again, the parents probably live vicariously through their children... and unfortunately their attitudes get passed on to their kids... talk about being a good role model! Life is a competition... the nature of the beast (humans) are to step on others to get ahead... sucks!
Unfortunately.....it isnt just dance competitions. Parents and kids are way too competitive in other competitions and sports as well. Where has good sportsmanship gone? Out the window apparently!

Is being scared of teenagers the first sign that I'm getting old?

What are some others? Is being scared of teenagers the first sign that I'm getting old?
You masturbate more because your hand is tighter than your wife.Is being scared of teenagers the first sign that I'm getting old?
Absolutely not! In this day and age I think most adults are afraid of teenagers!

As we age we all lose our hearing, our hair, our eyesight, our flexibility and, some would say, our minds. Some younger than others. I know someone whose hair turned gray at 21. Other friends have arthritis in their 30's. These things do not mean you are old.

I say the first sign of getting old is believing you are old.
Not at all, Some teens (NOT all by any means) like to impress others and will act out to do so. In the process they tend to be unruly and dangerous at times, I don't think they (at least most of the ones that do it )reaslly mean any harm. But you get several of them together and they seem to want to out do others and this can be really bad. Fear ofthe unknown is always bad and can strick anyone, Age has nothing to do with it.
You know you're getting old when you're back goes out more than you do.

I don't think that being afraid of teenagers is a sign that you're getting old. Sometimes I have to scratch my head when I'm around them when I see their body piercings, wild hair color %26amp; hair styles, clothing, etc. Self expression or rebellion? I remember my parents complaining about the teens back in the 50's %26amp; 60's. Wow! Strong contrast huh?
Goodness, No I am not afraid of teens. I may be a lot older and maybe a tad slower but I have a quick-fire temper. They may get the best of me but they will know I've been there! I am not easily intimidated, never show fear even if you are afraid. Do what you need to do to stay safe. But I am not going to stay locked in my house because of mean teenagers and neither should you. As for other signs of getting old, I just look at hubby who really looks his age, 65. Poppy
If they are running after you with weapons and telling you to drop your purse you might have a reason to be scared.

When you tell your friend that you are having an affair and they ask if you are having it catered, you might just be getting a bit old.
people are afraid of lots of things. being afraid of an age group is not a sign of getting old. I was afraid of older people when I was young. Now, I embrace everyone. :-)

Fear of getting old, period. Oh, and saggy skin under the arms. ;o)

    love ya

    {{{hugs}}}
No it doesn't.. I am 14 and am scared of teenagers too! I hate being on buses with them or walkinf past a gang of them... they threaten every age. There are some nice onse out there though. Some of us don't swear, and go out in huge gangs. :)

    xxxxxxxxxxx
No, there are some scary teenagers out there now. I'd like to slap that look off some of their faces. But, they'll be old someday that will be punishment enough.
Nope... I'm a teenager myself, and I'm scared of other teenagers. Haha.
Yes that's a good sign and afraid to limb up a ladder is to.
I am afraid of teenagers myself, your not the only one so take heart you are not alone.
There are scary people of all ages. The first sign that I'm getting old is thinking I'm old.
its just because i think that teenagers these days have gotten a lot different than they used to be.
I always went to the Mall by myself without any concerns. Now I am a little leery. Much more aware of my surroundings.
    saggy balls or saggy boobs
No, but I may ask why the ';TEENS'; are in the Senior section answering questions?

Lol, good question, I know what you mean. It's wierd.
What? I'm sorry, I dozed off...
I think it shows wisdom. I think we should carry a scatter gun and remind them just how bad our eyesight and aim is.
Huh? I take it you don't go out after dark either. My fear is locking my keys in the car.
    Where did I put my...........

I think lumping all the young at heart middle aged parents of students and early twenty year old college students might get a little frisky at you for being called teenagers so randomly.

NO! it is not true!Is it true that the Apple brand depends on targeting teenagers with its advertising?

How old can a teenagers get a job or summer job?

i want to know if a 15 years old girl can get a job?How old can a teenagers get a job or summer job?
Depends in what state you live. Here in California you have to be 16. My brother started working then. But you can always do jobs 'under the table' like babysitting, lawn mowing, etc.How old can a teenagers get a job or summer job?
hey sure you can I dont know where you live but in Australia it is 14 and 9 months, you cant get the worlds best job there is but you can get some great money

    good luck :)
I was 15 when I got my first job so I would say yes. If I remember there are restrictions on hours you can work though. Good luck.
    normally

you have to have left school

so 15 or 16 is the normal age

however some places like hairdressers will take you on when you are younger
you can yes but there are restrictions to the number of hours that you can work
ummm......not likely, im 16 and most jobs arent available untill your 17
    atleast 16+.

14 you can get your permit but really 16 wen you can get a real job!
    15 i think
Some jobs at fourteen, but most at sixteen
im a teenager and im saying this for everyone.

we're only teenagers, we shouldnt have to work, like get a real job.

just baby sit or mow lawns or something, but getting a real job like at mcdonalds or something, we have the rest of our lives to work.
Some businesses hire at 14; there is only certain number of hours that you can work per week and also certain time frames.

    Good luck!
I would say fourteen. Maybe sixteen.

Why are most African American women losing their virginity as teenagers?

I just need your opinion, because I have been asked this question and have found myself stuck to where I couldn't answer it. So if you could give me your opinion on this then maybe I could find the answer to give. Why are most African American women losing their virginity as teenagers?
honestly i dont think it matters if ur african american, white, latino, or purple. It seems that everybody is losing their virginity as a teen. Alot of people think that the age to have sex has gotten alot lower, when really most our grandparents, saved them selves for marriage, but were married with kids by the time they were 17. so really the only thing that has changed is people are having sex the same time, just getting married later. Why are most African American women losing their virginity as teenagers?
I think many teens - regardless of color/race are losing their virginity... Our culture and our world is constantly changing and if we stepped back and took a look at what our children watch compared to 10 years ago, we would realize that sex is becoming more mainstream for adults and teens. I wish everyone would wait until they're married - including myself, but it's impossible to force anyone to that.. luckily we all make our own decisions and we also live with the consequences...
    A lot of teens are.

Most of the times the conversation between kids ends up with sex. ';I'd do this to her'; blah blah blah or ';I lost mine in 7th grade'; blah blah blah.

I think its really stupid, INCREDIBLY stupid that people my age and younger are running around having sex with anything on two legs.
This is not about color of the skin or ones race. This is about life-style or culture back ground.

It became natural that kids want to grow up fast or catch up what they see their parents or matured people do.

TV or rated pro grammes contributes. In Middle East and many parts of the world (Asia, North Africa...) based on their culture or religious back ground - its a great a shame to a girl parents or guardian if the girl losses a virginity before the first marriage, you will find parents will do anything to prevent this. However in the Western World this is forgotten and may be be its not something to be conscious about.
    O.K. I'll stop.
coz at this time is when they dont want to listen to anybody they think they know everything and naively want to experience what they heard or seen from tv or internet.
Because their bored and followers and so is the mentality of if Jane is doing it why can't I?!? this is happening more in the Hispanic race because parents think that a 16 yr.old is an adult already and is old enough to have sex and I know of parental neighbors who drinks Coronas freely with their teens on the front/back porch, yard thinking it's COOL!!
the same reason white women are too.. just times are a changin..
Ok, dude that' I'm white and I find that question racist. THere are alot of owmen in Nort maerica losing hteir virginrity losign as teeangers and some them happen to be black, white, Asian, whatever. You couldn't place them as whoel THer'es your answer and go tell whoever said that, that his questions suck and so is damned prejucie and racist.
What Leona...So they have Sex when they are 10/11/12 ?? Lool x
Dont be narrow minded-be open minded because its not just African American-its hispanic and white as well. Girls get boy friends at all ages and when girls are teenagers they feel it time to engage in adult activity. Just look at it from the big picture!
i don't think it is only African American women- I think it is all women!

I am not sure the reason, maybe their parents didn't talk to them, maybe they come from a broken home. Everyone makes a decision based on their own personal reasons- it is hard to say why....
not me, I'm am a 21-year-old virgin and I am proud of that..so is my twin sister. My mom was a virgin when she got married and always instilled that in us...she is the reason and becuase of my religious background that I am waiting till marriage. So not all is like that, but most teenage girls (not just blacks) are which is pretty sad..look at jamie lynn spears...
In Africa a girl is considered a woman at a much earlier age then here in America. To them a 15 year old is ready for the responsibilities of being a wife and a mother. Their society completely different and is more focused on religious beliefs and a families will for survival rather than consumerism and Jamie Lynn Spear's pregnancy.
I think all women are, not just African-American ones...and a lot of girls are starting even before they're teenagers.
because most teenagers there are liberated! thats why...
Upbringing of every child in a decent manner is lacking in most families.Parents are to be blamed for this. That is singularly the most powerful reason for all this teen-agers losing their virginity at 12 to 15 ....black or white , all are equally responsible for this evil in our society.
that has nothing to do with race its all women
well first i think you should take race out of the issue because African American teenagers are NOT the only group of female losing their virginity as teenagers....There are other races of people losing their virginity as teenagers..it may jus be that many African American teenagers sexual experiences result in teenaged pregnancy... this should not be pinned on only one group of people..........WOMEN in general..may lose their virginity as teenagers because of peer pressure, rape, or just not being taught to wait.....

Do parents give their teenagers too much these days?

The majority of the young people I see these days all have nice, new cars, free cell phones, new clothes, and a wallet full on cash but surprise, surprise: most of them have no job and no responsibility.Do parents give their teenagers too much these days?
well taht depens n how bratty the teenager is and how strict the parent is. Give your kids something nice every once in a while, to make them happy, but too much makes them want more and more each day.Do parents give their teenagers too much these days?
    I am a teenager. I will have to say it depends on the teenager and the parent(s). I live with my mom and she works all day (literally). Whenever I ask why she does that, she just tells me I don't appreciate anything and that I should shut up because she gives me anything I want. I hardly ever ask for anything and I don't like what she does either. Sometimes she gets me things that I don't even want; I think it's because she feels guilty for never having time to be with me. So, sometimes the parents try to spoil the child when the child doesn't want to, and other times the child likes it and takes advantage of it. Some people say that those who get what they want never learn anything, but I learned by myself that I don't need all of that stuff and I don't want it. I will not be spoiling my children for sure. I wish more of the girls in my school thought the same way, but they are just too spoiled. (Not all of them, but the ones who are, are complete ******.) Oh, and I don't like things normal teenagers care so much about, like designer clothes, or ipods, etc. even though my mom tries to force me to get them because they're ';cool.';
Yes, parents give much more these days. I didn't get any of those things when I was growing up. I had to pay rent to my parents (or board) and my first job went toward that. It wasn't much money but I was taught to be responsible and not rely on my parents.
I think that parents now a day just give, give, and give to there children and do not make them earn a damn thing. It's like you are only working to hand your pay check over to your child. What happened to the life style of teaching your children to earn the money, you do give them and nice things are for special times like birthday's and Christmas. I see that most of the time the parents don't want to deal with there children so they give them what they want to shut them up. That is not preparing them for the world . The world is an evil place where people are out to stick it to you and don't care if you have to live without food or power for weeks. Parents need to prepare there children for what we are having to deal with now. I myself had to buy my first car, my insurance, and gas every week. I also had to learn to take care of my money I earned and that was given to me. I thank my parents for showing me the right way instead of just giving it to me. I am 31 now and my house will be paid for in 6 years. Thanks to my parents for teaching me to be a responsible person. It's sad to see these children always keeping there hand out . Where do you think the united states will be in 20 years when there running the country. SCARY!!!
I tend to think yes, yes, yes. Since both parents usually work they have more money and less time so give the kids things they want and like them to keep in style and have what the other kids have.

However it will come as a big shock when they have to learn how much work it takes to earn the money to pay for things themselves. So parent giving so much is not doing them any long term favors in my opinion.
    Yes.

    Not just teens.

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;鈥?/a>
I once saw a girl of about 8 with a ';Coach'; purse. *roll of eyes* Parents create their own monsters.

My brother is a perfect example of this. He paid for his daughters 5 year college education in full only to find out that she had taken in excess of $20,000. in college loans to maintain the $150.00 haircuts and designer clothing he had spoiled her with while she was a teen. Do you think she learned any lessons by being given anything she desired? NOT A ONE!
It's either that or the teens aren't supervised at all.

Not just teens, maybe like...preteens too.

It's a very rare sight for me when I meet someone who has parents who actually give a damn.
Absolutely! A large majority of my college peers have everything you mentioned in your question. Not only are they spoiled, but they don't appreciate anything they own. They take advantage of their parents, and it's disgraceful. I see this especially with girls who ';play'; their fathers by calling them ';Daddy'; and acting ';cute.'; My peers expect their parents to buy them this or that as soon as they ask for it, and I think it's a shame.

A majority of my peers don't know the value of a dollar, and I'm very glad that my parents taught me this at a young age. I think that you should appreciate what you own and what your parents give you. It's their hard-earned money, not ours, and it's out of their kindness that they buy us something. It should be appreciated. Additionally, I think that making practical choices when shopping needs to be taught. For instance, do you *want* the $400 cell phone or do you *need* the $400 cell phone?

Bottom line: yes, a lot of children/teens/young adults are very spoiled today.
Yes! I think that is one of the worst things a parent can do. Buying your child out is not being a good parent! It will only set them up for failure and financial hardship! I find parents that do this quite pathetic honestly.

How to decorate a teenagers new bedroom?

Hi, i have just moved into my new bedroom, but it looks while dul to me! ( maby thats just me). what could i do to make it look better, like what colour what stlye and much more!

what ever the teenager is in to , ask themHow to decorate a teenagers new bedroom?
i just re-did my bedroom, and i really like how it turned out and ALL of my friends LOVE it. but anyways, i paited my walls like a light blue and white, so like 1 wall is blue, then, white, then blue, then white, ya know so it alternates. and then i like had a bunch of lime green stuff, to like accent it. so my colors are blue lime green and white. and it looks amazing.

    hope it helped!
i love to do atrwork and luv harry potter, criss angel, faith hill, periwinkle, scooby doo, water, ice, etc etc... Just fill your room with your personaliyty- u shouldnt ask this here- these people dont know your personality- just fill your room with you!!! you will like it much better trust me i've been there done that!
Decorate it in your favorite colors. Your bedroom is your haven. You should surround yourself with the things that you love. Pictures of your friends, family, sports, music etc. Have fun with it. Pick your colors and go from there....Make it cozy and warm, Good luck!!!
well, your room should be how you express yourself! like if you have a favorite color go for it! i love music, so i have posters of my favorite bands all around my room. be creative, your room is ';you';!
You can decorate your room with ';peel an stick'; wall art. Your parents won't get upset if you put them up because they can be taken down without peeling the paint. They are no fuss and generally not too expensive.
What ever ur into if u like bright colors then use bright colors and if u don't like bright colors then don't use them its a personal decision.
Try decorating it with a color that you like or stick to a theme like for example if you like tropical things go with greens and blues and tropical colors

Is it normal for a girl and a guy that are in a relationship that are teenagers to shower together?

Yes, a lot of teens have sex so I'm pretty sure just showering is ok.Is it normal for a girl and a guy that are in a relationship that are teenagers to shower together?
mmmmm depends. If you guys were really good friends before then that's fine, but if you barely know each other that could come across to people as weird. If i were you, i wouldn't tell people you guys do that because if you brake up with her, you'll never get another girl.

    love

CarlyeIs it normal for a girl and a guy that are in a relationship that are teenagers to shower together?
No, because you know where it is going to lead to. Even if you are not doing anything or even if you are, I have never heard of taking a shower together. Most females do not like to be seen completely nude. Guys could care less.
    Ummm I'm guessing not.lol

But yeah I've did that before but with

our bathing suits on.I would think it would be awkard

Ways to scare teenagers on a camping trip?

I'm going camping with a bunch of my friends, and I reaalllyy wanna scare them. BADLY. Most of them are wimps but a few are really ';logical';... so I need ways to scare them. Any stories, pranks or ideas? thanks.Ways to scare teenagers on a camping trip?
Take away the cell phones that will scare the crud out of them.Ways to scare teenagers on a camping trip?
I hope that you really just want to pull a prank on them.

Scaring people can sometimes have tragic consequences. Especially when you get a bunch of city kids away from concrete and asphalt.

There are some ';pranks'; which are a lot of fun and no one needs to get hurt.

Some campgrounds have showers. A chicken bullion cube in a shower head is a hoot!

Plastic wrap over a toilet can be a little more drastic but funny just the same.

Once on a camping trip I was pranked by a guy. A few drops of maple syrup in his shoes brought more ants than I could ever imagine.

    Remember, just have fun.
bring a Ipod, a pair of speakers and play a chainsaw track, that'll have them pissing their pants, no matter who they are, just a morbid fear of the chainsaw massacres for some reason.

also try to find a way to make loud sniffing noises, making them think there's a bear in camp, wow, that'll have them running.

I like the axe murderer idea above too, just use some fake blood or even find a way to bring real blood along and coat the axe head in it, hilarious and ingenious.
Get a stuffed animal like a raccoon or a rubber snake. Tie a fishing line (clear) on it and hide it in the bushes or under a car or something and run the string where through the camp so they can't see it.

Preferably run the string close to the camp fire, say 20 feet away.

When you are sitting around the camp fire at night sneak away and pull on the string and scream at the same time. When they see that wild ferocious animal run through the camp they will all jump 5 feet in the air.

Another thing is tie it to you and run through the camp as if it is chasing you and scream. Try running toward a friend and watch them try and stay as far from you as possible.

See, a real friend would try and kill the vicious beast but I'll bet you have no brave friends that will be willing to save you.

    Sounds like fun, doesn't it?!!!!
Tell them a story about an axe murder that happened in that area and how there is a man who still murders people that camp there. Then after everyone is asleep sneak outside and slam an axe ( covered in red paint or something) into a tree in camp. The next day act like nothing happened and let someone else find it. Just be creative and think of something. Get one of your other friends in on it and really get them.
Invite Amy Winehouse to your camp. Tell the guys she's horny and tell the girls she wants to borrow their underwear.
Tell them to watch out for ticks, they tend to attach themselves to genitalia.
A surprise visit from their parents should scare them.

What are some guidelines for writing fiction books for teenagers? How to get published? ?

interested in writing fiction books for older children - teens (12-16 years)

    guidelines: style, interests, subjects

    teen interests and characteristics links

publishing informationWhat are some guidelines for writing fiction books for teenagers? How to get published? ?
[Please excuse length... is needed...easy reading.]

1.) Since you include a fairly wide range of age, one (12, often 13) will be called children's books; others in Young Adult category.

2.) Young people have a wide range of interests in books re: subject matter: realistic fiction, fiction, fantasy, science fiction, historical fiction, history, fashion-art-visuals books, etc.

3.) Once 'done' with first draft, re-write.

2.) Once all polishing is done, have a trusted mentor go over your work: all authors miss some errors in consistency, grammar, spelling, etc. due to much work on same material.

4.) Get, borrow, use online or use at library (make notes, copy relevant pages on free copier there) the current issue of The Writer's Market.

Read the first section only, 'How to Publish,' until you Really Know it.

5.) You'll see there: Don't get a copyright. As you work on a book, it's already legally copyrighted to you even as you write it: just put your name, a working title and a date (year will do) in every header and Always Keep a copy at home (floppy, hard-drive, CD, print-out; any of these), even when/if asked for more.

This is because copyright is what reputable publishers and editors buy via contract.

You will also find a link in Writer's Market to tell you who is reputable among agents, publishers and editors.

6.) Prepare the best query you can. Writer's Market gives examples of good and bad as well as tips on everything by agents, writers, editors, publishers and more.

7.) Be persistent (send out as many great queries as you can, but Only to people who take unsolicited queries, and not to same people.) Don't pester, just keep sending them out.

8.) If you want to begin with an idea, a book proposal is another way to go; same 'rules': not to any who do not take unsolicited material and following advice in book.

10.) Be optimistic in face of rejections all writers (even some established) get.

    11.) Best of luck...

ADD: Strongly suggest against 'self-pubication' unless you want to pay rather than be paid, have lots of capital for travel and promotion, have contacts regards booksellers, etc. Vanity press does not help with editing, promotion and are often unscrupulous re: type of book actually given, ultimate price.

Altogether it makes this type of book a 'hard sell.'

I'd love to know myself, but casting calls are pretty hard to come by.

Try typing in 'Open Auditions UK' into Google. It should come up with something.

Or try signing up to a good, legit casting website. I like StarNow - a lot (if not all) the auditions are around the UK.

Is there any teenagers who can sing opera?

I would like to listen to them, and I find it very unique! I've seen older women sing but never any teensIs there any teenagers who can sing opera?
A few roles in opera were written for children--naturally those can be sung by younger voices.

But as far as the standard operatic roles, they require mature voices. Some individuals--more often women--can reach the maturity of voice to sing some operatic roles in their late teens, though it varies from individual to individual. Is there any teenagers who can sing opera?
Actually I've had classical operatic training for 4 years from 12-16. Now that I'm 19 and a developed \operatic suprano, its easy to sing the harder aria. As for celebraties, all I know who sings opera and famous as a young 13 year old is Charlotte church... but she's twenty something now...

  • Is walking for teenagers good or they should opt for other aerobic and anaerobic exercises?

    yes.

walking is good, not only for children and teenagers but also for grown ups.

it is also a form of aerobic exercise.

you burn the same calories as you would have using a treadmill.

a brisk walk everyday (2 times) is good for everyone.

    i too am a teenager.

i walk to my tuitions everyday thus i get a 20-25 minute walk everyday. Is walking for teenagers good or they should opt for other aerobic and anaerobic exercises?
Long walks through fresh air is always healthy at any age.Is walking for teenagers good or they should opt for other aerobic and anaerobic exercises?
ANY exercise is ok, as long as it's for 1/2 hour, %26amp; al least 3 times weekly.

What are you trying to accomplish? Are you trying to lose weight, or simply stay fit? If you're already in decent shape, walking is fine.
sure it's better than sitting around but it would be more effective to do something that will raise your heartrate a little more. try running, cycling or the best exercise swimming. also anaerobic exercises won't do much good as they can't be sustained for a period of time.
