How do you feel about spoiled American teenagers, a la My Super Sweet 16?

I am so sick of unnecessary displays of wealth http://theartoffreedom.blogspot.com/ Here's a great article on the subjectHow do you feel about spoiled American teenagers, a la My Super Sweet 16?
I know. They should stop bitching and moaning and go out in the hard working class to see if they could make it.How do you feel about spoiled American teenagers, a la My Super Sweet 16?
If they're whining that their brand new sports car is the wrong color, let their daddy return it and have them get a job and work to earn the one that they ';need.'; Let their parents grow backbones and stop catering to their spoiled brat's every whim. Let the parents actually be parents, instead of servants and pacifiers.

And let those girls spend some time in the real world, because it won't be all sunshine and roses when mommy and daddy and their money isn't around to make it all better.

I almost feel sorry for them - they are in for one heck of a dose of reality when they grow up and try to make it on their own. And until then... let them drive the car that's the ';wrong color'; or no car at all, and then maybe they'll get over themselves.
It's just a show off thing. It's a parent's way of showing off and it is the brat's way of showing off too. What about these hispanic things they have for the 15 year olds too, I mean they go way out as well. The fancy dresses and blah blah blah it looks like a wedding reception. So it's not just the American population that does it.

It's ridiculous and needless, what happened to the simple parties with friends and families???
oh my god, i want to strangle the kids on that show. their parents spoiled them to such extreme levels they basically handicapped their kids. the kids expect lavish parties that cost hugely. it's disgusting. truly disgusting. with all the needy people in this world, they spend their money on fancy parties? they feel entitled to such a great party, and then when it happens, it probably won't be as fun as they thought it would be anyways. it's horrible and makes me really sad to watch, those spoiled rotten kids and their screamingly luxurious parties.

i'm 14 and i wouldn't dream of asking my parents for a car, or for a fancy 16th birthday party. for my 16th i'll probably go ice skating with my friends or something like that.

those kids are truly spoiled. hopefully some day they will wake up and realize the world isn't all about them. i would love to put them in a place with extreme poverty for like a month, and see how they cope and if it changes things.
I honestly feel bad. Mommy and Daddy won't be there forever to take care of them and the real world is going to hit hard. They are not prepared to be productive, responsible members of society and I think in the end they end up being some of the least happy people. They will keep looking for the next material thing to fill the void, but eventually they'll realize that no matter how much stuff they have its not whats going to make them happy. When that moment comes they'll really be stuck.
First of all, not all American teenagers (in fact, most aren't) spoiled. I mean, I'm from America (well, kinda) and I'm not spoiled. Neither are many people I know (on Y!A and in real life)

However, to those who are, what they need is a day...no wait...an hour in India. Oh, this reminds me of a story.

One year, when I was in 7th grade, my family took a trip to India to visit family. Because the American dollar is worth a lot in India, I was able to splurge. I was a spoiled brat. I'll admit it. I got all this gold jewelry and these designer clothes. I got the coldest Fanta available, because I was ';American'; rather than a local. On the way home, this 10-year-old girl comes to the air-conditioned taxi I was riding (yeah, only the rich and the foreigners ride like that) and asks us to by these dying flowers at 5 paisa (the equivalent of a cent here in the USA). At that moment, I, being my spoiled self, just carelessly flung my cool fanta away and said I didn't want it anymore. The girl was so excited and asked if she could take the bottle; my mother said okay. I watched the girl take my half-finished fanta and share it with her 9 siblings (or so I presumed them to be) and parents. They were all smiling and waving at me; they had never drunk anything except water in their lives...that was a life-changing moment.

Now, I'm really thrifty. In fact, for my ';sweet sixteen';, I forfeited my party and took the money that would have otherwise been spent on the party. At first, my parents gave me $500, but when I told them that I wanted to donate it, they gave an additional $500 to donate. Now, instead of spending, I'm focusing on school and doing the best I can...after all, there are so many people out there (the 10-year-old girl included) who want to study and be educated, but can't afford it...

Now...these spoiled brats need to sell flowers on the streets dressed in rags. They need to be forced into third-world countries...but in the end, their dependence on their parents will come back to bite them in the rear. Because they are so materialistic, they don't do well in school, and then can't get a job to support their lavish lifestyle. So, they suffer in the end...

i think people should find the spoiled rich kids, take them, and bring them over to countries where people are happy to have crust for supper and let them live there for a while.... bring along the parents that think its ok for their kids to act the way they do and do the things they do.
I hope you people do know those chics arent

really that spoiled.

It's all for publicity,

The directors and people in charge of filming and

stuff actually tell the chics to act b*tchy and spoiled.

But I wont deny it,

They are more spoiled then the average person.
my super sweet 16 is lamest television show ever. just a bunch of spoiled brats throwing tantrums on their 16th birthday because daddy didn't get the right color sports car for them. i feel like every child on that show should be b**** slapped a bit.
I hate that show and I hate everyone on it!! lol

I am probably just jealous but I can be haha.....I am pregnant and work 40 hours every week and barely make it pay check to pay check.

I think all money should be spread out evenly haha!!!

But I guess I wouldnt be saying this if I had all the money =]
OMG, I can't wait for those spoiled brat teens to get out in the real world. Their up for a rude awakening 10 years from now.
Not all American teenagers are spoiled.
I would actually get a plane to America just to slap those spoiled brats out of it.

= )
i completely agree. it's like:get a job, make some money, stop whining, get a life! {and stop tryna tell ur PARETNS of all people what to do!}
I think they should share the wealth

And its not only American teens that are spoiled
its fine with me, everyone gets spoiled sometimes. they just happen to get spoiled all the time. mind your own business!
omg i love that show!

i wanna be on it

:D
maybe they should get a job to pay for it!!
I have seen that show and am appalled that these parents actually give into their kids so easily. If they don't get what they want they throw a hissy like a 2 year-old that doesn't get a piece of chocolate. If my child ever acted like that they would be CUT OFF. No allowance, no car, no vacation, NOTHING, and they would be made to get a job just like any other teen.
