What's the cause of OCD, and who has it more; the elderly, adults, teenagers, or children?

Thank you very much. What's the cause of OCD, and who has it more; the elderly, adults, teenagers, or children?
idk what the cause is. but ive seen just as many adults and elderly with it as teenagers, not really so much with small children thoughWhat's the cause of OCD, and who has it more; the elderly, adults, teenagers, or children?
OCD is beleived to be caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain. The science is still quite unknown, but it is related to the flow of serotonin.

Serotonin is a chemical which is important in us feeling hapiness, love and empathy. It is believed people with OCD have a problem with the flow of this. Compulsive behaviour is an attempt to supress obssesive thoughts. Some argue that the 'images' or fears of an OCD sufferor are just as common as that of a healthy person - but an OCD sufferor feels responsible for this image/thought and obssesses about it while a healthy person would disregard it as stupid and unrelated to there being.

Its believed you 'have' OCD from when you come out of your mums womb, it usually manifests itself during childhood. However, it is possible that an elderley person who was born with OCD will have either highly supressed it through therapy or have been cured. Thats if they seek help and have not lived there lives ignoring it, which is very common.
I have been in childcare for 15 years and I have seen ALOT of kids with ocd. It usually gets diagnosed as autistic or AD/ADHD because they get so upset if they cant do their ';rituals'; its more common in the 2-3 year old range.
Teens I would say.
