Same reason we think people that are computer geeks are nerdy. They don't understand it, so best to consider it nerdy and get it over with.Why are Boy Scouts Nerdy to Teenagers?
The Boy Scouts is usually the first organization structure the boys who join find in their life's. They are given leadership roles and responsibility. Most other boys find it threatening.
