your deff in mr gotts class lmaoWhy does the book Catcher in the Rye appeal to teenagers today and also teenagers 60 years ago?
This is the best book in the world. I like it because i undertand what he is thinking about. For example he'll say something and ill be like me too! IDK thats just me though. Like all those ';phonies'; he sees i feel the same way as he does on almost everything. Its funny like before i ever read the catcher in the rye i loved going to museams because nothing ever changed i wished like i could just stay there forever and not change then i read the catcher in the rye and i was like omg thats how i feel!!!
Well for one he has many ideas that appeal more to teenager today then back in the 60's. I'm sure back then there were some pretty rebellious kids that didn't give a crap about anything, but in todays day in age, we are more open to society. Everything is more open, sex, drinking, drugs etc. and most kids are in a depressed state of mind, because they take life for granted and don't see any beauty behind it. I love catcher in the rye because he doesn't sugar code how much life sucks, he's real with it, and thats what teenagers appeal too. Hope this helped.
I absolutely love this book! I think that everyone, no matter what time period, girl or boy, can relate to Holden. When i was reading it, i totally understood him, i think a lot of people think like him, you know when you're sort of forced to talk to someone and be nice to them, he was always thinking what he really thought about them in his head and it's like something i would think about someone like that. And i think a lot of other people do too. I hope this is not confusing?
