Are teenagers more insecure and stressed out than they were 15-20 years ago?

If so, why? Too much too soon? Parenting? Something else? Are teenagers more insecure and stressed out than they were 15-20 years ago?
I believe teenagers are much more stressed out than they were twenty years ago. This country is facing a mental health epidemic among teenagers. Overprotective parents try to take responsibility for their kids when they shouldn't be. Kids are getting away with making bad decisions because of this, when they should be taking responsibility for themselves. Schools frighten kids into being submissive instead of expressive and creative. The media uses fear to scare kids. Use Axe or you won't get laid and won't be cool. Use Old Spice so girls like you, and you're a loser if they don't like you. Colleges are becoming more and more competitive. Kids are taught that you go to college, graduate in four years, and then get a job, when in reality, that's not really how things work for eighty percent or more of adults. The pressure is enormous. Peer pressure is enormous. So what do kids do? They drink and smoke weed to relieve all this pressure. Our society is seriously ****** up.Are teenagers more insecure and stressed out than they were 15-20 years ago?
Yes, in many ways. Teenagers now a days try and hide there feelings, they lock themselves up inside do to insecurity. The economy has gotten bad, and for teenagers that's something that effects them as far as income of there parents and feeling poor. Teenagers seem to just have developed a greater sadness for some unknown reason. Good luck!
Sure they are! I work in a high school and the pressure is intense, mostly coming from the parents of course, but, you have teachers, the coaches, the friends, it's overwhelming at times I think.

And add to that, that society wants the kids to grow up so fast these days, it's almost like kids are not allowed to be kids anymore. With crime at an all time high, drugs, peer pressure, parental pressure, it's something else now.

I, for one, am glad I grew up in the 70-80's era, life was so much more simple then!!
