Do you think that its okay to buy your teenagers alcohol so they can get drunk with their friends. If they are say 15-18 years old?Be honestt parentss of teenagers?
NoBe honestt parentss of teenagers?
Oh hell no. Try and ask the police the same question. It is illegal and really stupid.
I'm a mother of a 1 yr old, not a teenager, but I will never, never, ever buy my underage daughter alcohol. I wouldn't even buy it for my brother prior to his turning 21.
Giving an underage teen alcohol gives the message that the drinking age is obsolete and encourages alcohol consumption. Most teens are not mature enough to understand the consequences and responsibility that comes with alcohol consumption. That is why there are laws against it.
I do not think that's a good idea at all... You run the risk of going to jail AND/OR killing someone (either the teenagers themselves or if they hit someone in their car on their way home from your party).
Lecturing aside, I do have to say that my parents gave me alcohol to drink before I turned 21, HOWEVER, it was not to get me wasted. It was maybe a beer at dinner or a glass of wine at dinner.
No, I do not think it is OK. My mother did not do it for me and I am not doing it for my daughter. There is a lot of responsibility that comes with drinking and most 15-18 year old's do not have it. Just my opinion.
imm nota parent but i am a teen and i think its great my parents dont buy me alchalo beacuse that is inresonsible of them and would mean they wouldnt care about me and how it could ruin my future i think that is not ok at alll!!! again that is inresponisle and against the law for a reson!!................. especially at 15 comn that is a stupid question!
No. Not only is it illegal, you are the parent not the friend. You should never buy your children alcohol.
I wish my parents would do that for me!
It's better they get it from you than someone else, cuz chances are, they're gonna get the alcohol anyways, whether or not you give it to them, so its better to have it from you so you know it's safe, plus you know how much they'll have, so you can give them a certain amount
Us teenagers will get it anyways, so who not give it to them
NOOOOOOOOO!!! It could kill your kid! It's like giving them a knife and saying here go kill yourself!!! It's illegal too! It's horrible for you and your kids. Your kids could kill someone else too! It's horrible! NEVER!!!! I'm a kid...... I'd run away from my house if my parents did that. It's like your telling them it's okay to get drunk? Do you think it's okay to get drunk?
no, my kids know better than to even ask. If they even asked me that they would be in trouble. If I found out that any of their friends parents think differently my child would not be going to their homes.
Absolutely not. My husband's mother would allow his son's friends to come over for ';beer busts';. I told her she would be liable if anything happened. I told my husband the same thing. They felt the kids were ';safer'; if they drank at her house, even though she went to bed at 8 pm and nothing could wake her up (her excuse for why it wasn't a problem). They are both very lucky that the kids were never caught. But if I was the parent of one of those kids, I would have been pissed. And I was about my stepson. I just wasn't allowed any input from my dumb husband or his dumb mother.
Absolutely not!
personally no
As much as the kids want to argue with me about it I wont give in. I'm the parent and too bad if I'm not as cool as the other parents.
you dont have to buy it but we get it anyways, im fifteen and i do it sometimes, it's not a horribly big deal.
Nope I would never do it, I have a 17 yr old and he knows don't ask. But he really is not the type of kid to drink, he saw a lot of negative coming from drinking, drugs and smoking, and so far (knock on wood) could care less. I know he has tried drinking but did not like it!!! I have also seen him turn away some good friends and when I asked why he did not hang out with them he told me they were doing drugs and he did not want any part of it!!! He told me he would rather give up a friendship than ruin his life, this was about 4 months ago he told me this.
No there are stats about drinking under age and how it will lead to problems later on in life. Do you want to be the cause of the problems later on in life. My moms new boyfriend is a re-covering alcoholic and started drinking when he was 16 when his dad bought him beers to drink with him. He almost died from his liver dying from all of the drinking.
No not really. That is too young of an age to let them be able to drink. Hence the legal limit being 21. They arent responsible enough and could have some serious health consiquences due to overdoing it.
No I don't. I was that teenager that drank and it's not a good thing. So no. I will let my teenagers have a glass of wine on holidays with dinner, but not buy them booze to get wasted.
No, not ok.
no...
No!
But I have a problem with an 18 year old who is serving our country in the armed forces and can't legally consume alcohol. (U.S.)
I can remember being young and dumb and saying I would let my kid drink at home. Now I am older and smart and have no kids (sorry). I say no to this simply because of the potential legal consequences of this action and the message it sends to the child. Not a message about drinking, but the message that despite this is illegal, its okay to do at home. The message is that no matter what it illegal, its okay if we do it at home--so no. You teach them when they are of legal age in that state-they can get drunk with a designated driver.
No it's not OK! I have a teenager and the only time she gets a taste of any alcohol is when we have a nice family dinner and their mommy gives them a little wine. Parents should not encourage teen drinking by buying the alcohol for them. Tehy should wait until legal drinking age.
Depends on where we live.
Legal age for alcohol in most countries is 18. Where we're moving to it's 14.
Either way, they can go buy it and pay for it themselves when they have their own money, I'm not a delivery service nor a cash machine.
As a parent, I say no. If I were 15-18, I'd say go parents!
Definitely not. Giving your child a taste of a drink on special occassions is your right as their parent. Buying alcohol for other people's children is not responsible.
absolutely not~
15 HELL NO. once they hit 17-18 they can have some wine or beer but nothing strong and monitor how much they drink nobody should get drunk they just kids. let them get a buzz. and then cut them off. it should not take much for a kid to get a buzz going.
No. By buying them alcohol you are condoning a lifestyle that not all parents approve of. Not to mention that you could be arrested and charged with contributing to the deliquency of a minor. That's a pretty serious offense just to let a 15 yr old have a drink.
At home maybe I'd say invite some friends over and let them have a few, but only as long as the other parents gave their permission. I live in spain, and here kids are allowed to drink from ages 14. This way, alcohol is not a taboo, and kids dont feel the need to go out and get hammered.
