I'd look her up if I were you. What are some good books for teenagers to read that are 16?
Ask the librarian. You can also watch ';Intervention'; on A%26amp;E on TV if you get that channel. It's interesting. A book I loved was ';Sybil'; but it wasn't about drinking or drugs, it was a long story about a poor girl, who, because of horrible, disgusting abuse from her mother as a child, develops Multiple Personality, and her Discovery finally by a psychiatrist who recognizes what she has, I think they find that she has 11 separate, distinct personalities, and they do things she wouldn't do, and she can't remember. I loved this book when I was around your age. It's been made into a movie two times, but the book is a lot more graphic and interesting.
Here are some great titles for your age group.
City of Thieves, by David Benioff,
Two teenage boys encounter cannibals, murderers, prostitutes, and assassins as they struggle to complete an impossible task during the freezing Siege of Leningrad in this funny, shocking, and briskly written tome.
The Dragons of Babel, by Michael Swanwick,
In this original steampunk fantasy, young Will embarks on a quest that takes him to the dizzying heights and gritty depths of the postindustrial world of Babel.
Finding Nouf, by Zo毛 Ferraris
After a 16-year-old girl from a wealthy Saudi family is found dead in the middle of the desert, a devout Muslim guide and a young medical examiner seek to unravel the mystery while facing the sanctions of Middle Eastern society.
The Good Thief, by Hannah Tinti
In this suspenseful and unpredictable adventure, Ren, a one-handed eighteenth-century orphan, becomes apprenticed to a con man. Surprisingly, Ren seems born to it.
Just After Sunset: Stories, by Stephen King,
Modern terrors abound鈥攁 porta-potty prison, class warfare on an apocalyptic afternoon鈥攊n this wickedly compelling collection of macabre, absurd, and gleefully vulgar stories. Scary, dirty fun.
Mudbound,
At the close of WW II, two soldiers return to their home in the South to find racial tensions as explosive as the battlefields of Europe. This beautifully written story casts a spell as inescapable as the mud fields of the Mississippi Delta.
Over and Under, by Todd Tucker
Andy and Tom鈥檚 fourteenth summer is defined by adventures in the woods and caves near their home, a strike that polarizes their small town, and secrets that test their friendship.
The Oxford Project, by Stephen G. Bloom
In this riveting sociological study, the residents of Oxford, Iowa were photographed in 1984 and then again in 2005. Their compelling life stories, vividly expressed in brief biographical sketches, show just how much someone can change in 21 years.
Sharp Teeth, by Toby Barlow
A fast-paced ride through the brutality of L.A.鈥檚 wilderness of drugs, gangs, and the connections people make with one another. The fact that most of the characters in this bloody, sexy, free-verse tale are mostly lycanthropes is almost incidental.
Three Girls and Their Brother, by Theresa Rebeck
This witty satire of show-biz politics, told from the perspective of four New York teenage siblings in the eye of a publicity tornado, provides a fascinating insider鈥檚 look at the world of the rich and famous.
Be seeing you....
If you like books about drinking and drugs have you read A Million Little Pieces by James Frey and the sequel My Friend Leonard? Two of my favorite books about his struggle with rehab.
You might also like The I Chong.... By tommy chong.. It's about his being sent to jail for his bong company (if i remember correctly.. haven't read it in awhile).
I am reading the Noughts and Crosses books by Malorie Blackman
They are really good and you see a different side to life and you might cry as it is quite upsetting at times.
1. Noughts and Crosses
2. Knife Edge
3. Checkmate
4. Double Cross
I agree with the girl who said noughts and crosses. I literally love that series even though I am normally into Chick Lit. And I like twilight too :) Other books I like include Before I die - very sad and moving and lovely.
Try reading some Hunter S. Thompson
Some of his work is based autobiographically ... he had some crazy times.
Start with Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and go from there ... the book is MUCH better than the movie (as always)
i am 16 and i am a pothead and i really enjoyed these:
-Crank
-Burned
-Impulse
-Glass
-Identical
-My Bloody Life
You read I AM alice or GO ASK alice cuz go ask alice is a really good book. A boy called it is an excellent book. The second book is good too.
The Vampire Diaries. by L.J. Smith
A Dirty Job. by Christopher Moore.
