What is the average age for teenagers to get a girlfriend/boyfriend?

This question would mostly be directed at, but not limited to the good people of the US, since almost everyone is talking about having sex when they are teenagers over there. I apologise if I'm making generalisations, but I comment on what I see.


So, yes, just to ask, when did you get your first girlfriend/boyfriend? And what do you think the current average age is?


And do teenagers really find it uncool if you've not gotten a gf/bf when you're 16? Cause that sounds really crazy to me. I guess my society doesn't work that way.What is the average age for teenagers to get a girlfriend/boyfriend?
My first bf was in 5th or 6th grade, I'm not sure how old you are in that grade, but I had the same bf for 2 years. LOL


I think 13 or so is the average age.


I don't think you are serious with a boy until like 16.


My high school boyfriend (and 1 year of college) dated for 5 years before we broke up.


I think relationships are serious when you are in college or graduating from it. currently I am in a relationship of almost 7 years and I hope this is the last.





Even if you just have lots of friends and don't date for a while you are still cool. There were a lot of girls who didn't date in high school and no one made fun of them. just remember, life doesn't start till college or later, don't care what anyone thinks and just be happy being yourself.

I got my first boyfriend when I was 16.


But I know a whole lot of people who were ';dating'; in middle school.
It appears to be getting younger and younger but I don't think until they're over 16 that it should be allowed. My parents kept a tight rein on us and we dated in our teens but didn't get serious about anyone until our 20s. (None of this hooking up or hanging out stuff.) Then we looked for those we wanted to marry.

i was 13 but it was just a little hand holding kiddy relationship. First real relationship didn't happen until i was 21.
When it concerns my 2 daughters....45 sounds about right or after I am dead.

current average age i would say anywhere from 12-14


but that's just when it starts and nothing is really serious and they just want the ability to say ';oh yeah i have a boyfriend/girlfriend';


I don't think they find it ';uncool'; if you don't have one but they just find it weird that you haven't i mean why not? just to hang out and relate and learn more about a person?


I don't think it matters that much if you have one or don't...it's the matter of if you want one or not and if you think you want to go beyond just a friendship with another person!
I think 16 is the average age. I am 16 going on 17 and I don't have or plan on getting a boy-friend. Also not all teenagers are having sex, but there are some. I think it has to do with our media and what they pa-trey. They show teenagers having sex all the time on the TV which makes kids think its normal, but its just wrong sex was maid to wait tell marriage.Hope that helped.
Im a 16 year old boy and dont have a boyfriend. None of my friends do either. We like chilling with our selves right now. Leave the relationships till ur older.
