i went to the doctor the other day and told them that i wanted to be on the pill. she told me that i couldnt because she didnt think it was right. i was telling a friend about everything that happened and we were both wondering if it was even legal for a doctor to deny giving somebody birth control..?Are there any laws against giving teenagers birth control?
idk what the first guy saidAre there any laws against giving teenagers birth control?
It depends on the doctor and the jurisdiction. In some states, parents must give consent for a woman under the age of 16 to receive birth control.
Why don't you talk to your Mom about it. She may be more receptive to the idea than you think. If not, go and visit your local Planned Parenthood office, they can assist you with obtaining birth control.
Yes. Doctors can decide who and what to prescribe medication for. If you are really wanting to be on the pill, find another doctor who's willing to help you.
yes - in the US anyway - Doc's can and DO prescibe birthcontrol. I am not sure of your age - so that may play a role. BUT - if you are over 13 - you can go to a clinic (Planned Parenthood etc) and they will provide BC without parents knowledge or consent. Though I WOULD recommend talking it over with your parent/guardian. Just in case there is a problem with it - someone should know what you're taking.
Good luck!
